Dr. Verônica Calado is a full professor (for promotion) at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. She holds bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in Chemical Engineering from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. She worked for two years at the Center of Composite Materials at the University of Delaware (from 1994 to 1996) and for a year at the University of California, Berkeley, in 2003. Currently, she serves as a referee for journals, such as Composite Science and Technology, Carbon, Polymer Composites, Composites Part A: Applied Science and Manufacturing, International Journal of Engineering Science, Food Chemistry, and Food Research International, among others. She is a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Composites Science and Technology and Advances in Materials Science and Engineering. She works with composite materials, applied statistics, design of experiments, and statistical process control.
Nei Pereira Jr. is a professor emeritus of the School of Chemistry at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), Brazil, since 2017. He has the degree of Chemical Engineer (UFRJ, 1977), a M.Sc. in Technology of Biochemical Processes (UFRJ, 1982), and a Ph.D. in Biotechnology (Manchester University, UK, 1991). He began his academic activities in 1978, having covered all the positions of his university career. He was awarded the National Prize Outstanding Researcher 2006 of the Brazilian Association of the Chemical Industry (ABIQUIM), and Thesis Emerald Award in 2019 by the School of Chemistry for having supervised over 125 postgraduate theses. He coordinates academic and technological research at the Laboratory of Bioprocess Development of the Biofuels, Petroleum and Derivatives Centre of the School of Chemistry at UFRJ.
