Aymer Maturana received his master’s degree in Civil Engineering from Universidad de los Andes in 2000, and a Ph.D. in Thermal Sciences and Fluids from the University of São Paulo São Carlos School of Engineering in 2011. He is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering—Institute of Hydraulic and Environmental Studies IDEHA, Universidad del Norte. His research interests mainly focus on water and wastewater treatment, especially membrane technologies (reverse osmosis, micro, ultra, nanofiltration and electrodialysis), water quality and bioenergy, with an emphasis on thermal conversion.
Julia González-Álvarez received her Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the Faculty of Chemistry, Universidade de Santiago de Compostela in 1994. She is an Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering at the Department of Chemical Engineering, Universidade de Santiago de Compostela. Her research interests mainly focus on extraction of phenolic compounds; bioactive compounds; activated carbons from biomass; removal of industrial pollutants from gas and liquid effluents; recovery of metals from e-waste.
