Dr. Stavros Papathanasiou is a professor at the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of NTUA. He received his Diploma in Electrical Engineering and his PhD from the School of Electrical & Computer Engineering of NTUA in 1991 and 1997. His area of expertise is renewable generation, electricity storage and power systems. He is the author of ca. 250 publications in journals and conference proceedings. He has been active in the field for 30 years, having worked in the utility industry and been engaged as a consultant in the development of renewable and distributed energy generation and storage technologies, their network integration and market participation, as well as in applications of RESs and storage in autonomous islands. He has collaborated closely with state institutions, regulatory authorities and system operators on regulatory, operational, technical and market aspects, and he has contributed to significant renewable generation, storage and grid projects in Greece and abroad.
