Prof. Li Yu is an academician in the Chinese Academy of Engineering, a foreign academician in the Russian Academy of Sciences, a professor and doctoral supervisor at Jilin Agricultural University, Changchun, China, the chairman of the International Society of Medicinal Microbiology, a member of the 4th and 5th Subject Appraisal Groups of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, and the editor-in-chief of "Mycology Research", "Journal of Fungus" (until 2009), and "International Medicinal Mushroom." He has collaborated with a broad range of national-level contributors to science and technology, including in management and education as well as research. As the director of the breeding center at the mushroom industry technology station, Prof. Li is the only academician in China who is working on edible and medicinal mushroom breeding, basal fungi, and myxomycetes.
