Author Biographies

Maridi Aerts is a Gastroenterologist at the Universitair Ziekenhuis Brussel (UZ Brussel). She specializes in hepatobiliary diseases with a subspecialization in advanced diagnostic and interventional endoscopy. She completed her studies in medicine at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) in 2006. She is also part of the palliative support team of UZ Brussel, the board member (treasurer) of the Belgian Society of GastroIntestinal Endoscopy (BSGIE) and Acta Gastro-Enterologica Belgica.
Zenzi Rosseel is the Hospital Pharmacist and a Ph.D. student in Clinical Nutrition at the Universitair Ziekenhuis Brussel (UZ Brussel). Zenzi Rosseel graduated as a pharmacist in 2019 at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, proceeded a Master-after-Master at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, and graduated as a hospital pharmacist in 2022 after a 2.5-year internship at the University Hospital of Brussels, UZ Brussel.
Elisabeth De Waele received her medical degree with great distinction from Vrije Universiteit Brussel in 2004. She subsequently completed postgraduate training in general surgery in 2010 and became a certified Intensive Care Physician in 2012. She is currently head of clinics in ICU, responsible for the postoperative treatment of cardiac surgery patients and acts as the liaison with the surgical teams of the Universitair Ziekenhuis Brussel. Since 2012, she has been president of the Nutrition Team at Vrije Universiteit Brussel/Universitair Ziekenhuis Brussel. Her scientific work is focused on clinical research in critically ill patients.
