Author Biographies

Prof. Dr. Ramdas G. Pai, M.D., is a professor at the University of California, Riverside School of Medicine, and the director of the school's Cardiovascular Fellowship Program, as well as the director of cardiac imaging at the St. Bernardine Medical Center in San Bernardino, California. Dr. Pai began his medical career in India, earning his M.B.B.S. and M.D. at Kasturba Medical College in Manipal, India, and then went on to complete residencies in India, the United Kingdom, and New York. He joined the staff at Loma Linda University Medical Center in 1987, eventually becoming the director of integrated cardiac imaging. During his tenure, he helped to conceive and build the LLU Heart and Imaging Center. He joined the St. Bernardine Medical Center as the director of cardiac imaging in 2015. Dr. Pai has been a professor of medicine at both the Loma Linda University School of Medicine and the USC-Keck School of Medicine. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, a fellow and vice president of the International College of Angiology and a founding member of the Society of Cardiovascular MRI. Dr. Pai's recent research includes a grant to research stereotactic proton beam ablation of cardiac arrhythmias. He has also been a co-investigator on an NIH-funded grant for the STICH CMR Core lab and a PI on the NSF-funded Smart and Connected Hospital program.
Prof. Dr. Padmini Varadarajan, M.D., is a Cardiology Specialist at the UCR Health Multispecialty Center. Prof. Dr. Varadarajan is a Professor of Medicine and an Academic Cardiologist, board-certified in Internal Medicine, Echocardiography and Adult Congenital Heart Diseases and Cardiac Computed Tomography. She has been a clinical scholar and a full Professor of Medicine at Loma Linda University since 2013. Prof. Dr. Varadarajan is the author of 58 peer-reviewed manuscripts, 75 abstracts, 6 books on cardiology, and 21 book chapters. She has served as a mentor for 25 Internal Medicine Residents and Cardiology Resident Fellows in terms of their research and career guidance over the last 12 years. She is a Director of Structural Heart Imaging and a member of the American College of Cardiology Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
