Dr. Boumaiza is a scientist at the Qatar
Environment and Energy Research Institute. She is serving as a Project Lead of the “Smart
Trade and Resources Management” project under the Energy Management Program. She has been nominated as the 2024 IEEE IES Women Ambassador.
Her work has been recognized and awarded, and she received the 'Innovative
Entrepreneurship Program Award for Startup Funding Program' in 2023 and best
application in the sustainability field in 2024. She has recently been nominated
for the 'UNESCO-Al Forzan International Prize for the Promotion of Young
Scientists. In addition, she has been elected as the IEEE YP Chair for the
Qatar section and is an active member of the Qatar Women in Engineering Association
(QWEA) and the Alumni association. She received a “Best Paper Award” for the IEEE
International Artificial Intelligence and Mechatronics Systems, 2024. Prior to joining HBKU/QEERI, she received a
full Ph.D. merit-based scholarship from the Ministry of Higher Education and
Research in France. She earned her Ph.D. in 2013 in Artificial Intelligence and Computer Engineering INRIA and
the University of Lorrain, France and from the CVC in
UAB Barcelona, Spain. She was a part of the French Alternative Energies and
Atomic Energy Commission Institute CEA-List and the Vision and Content Engineering
Lab LVIC in Saclay, Paris, France.
