Valerio Fulci is an Associate Professor at the Department of
Molecular Medicine, Sapienza University of Rome. He graduated in Molecular
Biology (cum laude) from Sapienza University of Rome and received his PhD in
Human Biology, Molecular and Cellular Bases in 2005. Then, he continued
postdoctoral research at the same place in 2006–2008. His research interests
include miRNAs in leukemias and lymphocyte activation, and lincRNAs AGO2
protein. The research activity of his lab is focused on the transcriptional and
post-transcriptional gene expression regulation mechanisms, and in particular
on the role of non-coding RNAs (miRNAs, lncRNAs) in this scenario.
Rossella Paolini graduated from the Sapienza University of
Rome in 1986 and obtained a Ph.D. in Experimental Medicine in the same place in
1992. She spent five years training at the section of Molecular Immunology and
Allergy at NIH in Bethesda (1990–1995) as a Postdoctoral Researcher. She has
been a Full Professor of Immunology at the Department of Molecular Medicine,
Sapienza University of Rome since 2016. She is the Chair of Immunology at the
Medical School of Sapienza University of Rome. She has been focused on the
study of signal transduction pathways implicated in the regulation of different
aspects of mast cell and NK cell biology over the last 20 years. Her studies
have importantly contributed to elucidating the intracellular biochemical
events leading to the activation of the mast cell functional program. More
recently, she has been focused on the molecular pathways that regulate the
expression and function of activating receptors and their ligands in mast cells
and natural killer cells.
Rosa Molfetta graduated in Biological Sciences from Sapienza
University of Rome in 1997 and received a PhD in Immunology at the same place
in 2003. Then, she worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Department of
Experimental Medicine, Sapienza University of Rome. She has been an Associate Professor at the Department of Molecular Medicine, Sapienza University of Rome since 2019. Her main research interests concern the molecular mechanisms regulating the expression and signaling of innate immune receptors and their ligands. In particular, she contributed to elucidating the role of the ubiquitin pathway in the regulation of internalization and trafficking of human NK cell-activating receptors as well as the high-affinity receptor for IgE in murine mast cells. More recently, she has focused on mast cells' role in tumor progression.
