Prof. Dr. Mohammad K. Najjar is a Professor at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. He graduated from the Tishreen University in Syria in 2007. He received his Master’s studies in International Planning and Sustainable Development at the University of Westminster in London in 2009, a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering at the Federal University in Brazil in 2019, and a Post-Doctorate from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil in 2020. He is also an independent architect registered with the Brazilian Council of Architecture and Urban Planning, registration number A136009-4. He has good experience in building construction in both Syria and Brazil. Moreover, he has reputable experience in teaching and supervision to students of Environmental Engineering, Architecture and Urbanism, and Civil Construction.
Prof. Dr. Bruno Barzellay Ferreira Da Costa is an Adjunct Professor of the Civil Engineering Course at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro-UFRJ-Macaé Campus. He received his degree, a Master’s degree, and a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the Universidade Federal Fluminense and also has a specialization in Environmental Management of Companies from Universidade Gama Filho–UGF in 2009, specialization in Occupational Safety Engineering from Fundação Técnico Educacional Souza Marques–FTESM in 2010, and specialization in Strategic Cost Management and Management of Works and Projects from the Brazilian Institute of Cost Engineering–IBEC in 2012 and 2019. He has experience in the area of Civil Engineering, mainly in the following topics: Sustainable Cities, Green Buildings, Sustainable Constructions, Natural Lighting, Natural Ventilation, Energy Efficiency, Environmental Certification of Buildings, and Budgeting and Planning of Works.
Prof. Dr. Mayara Amario graduated in Civil Engineering, with an emphasis on Civil Construction, from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2013), Master’s (2015), Doctorate (2019), and Post-Doctorate (2021), all in Civil Engineering from the Civil Engineering Program at COPPE/UFRJ, in the area of Structures and Materials. Currently, she is a Professor at the Department of Civil Construction at Poli/UFRJ and the Environmental Engineering Program at UFRJ. She has experience in the area of Civil Engineering, mainly with topics related to Sustainable Materials and cement-based materials. She works on a research project aimed at the production and characterization of concrete containing recycled aggregates from Construction and Demolition Waste (RCD) at the Center for Teaching and Research in Low Environmental Impact Materials and Technologies in Sustainable Construction (NUMATS).
Prof. Dr. Diego A. Vasco is a Professor at the University of Santiago, Chile. He received his chemical engineering degree from Universidad Nacional de Colombia in 2004 and his Master’s degree in chemistry from Universidad de Antioquia, Colombia in 2008. During this stage, his research topic was electrochemistry applied to the environmental remediation of soils. Later, he was awarded a scholarship for doctoral studies at Universidad de Santiago de Chile (USACH). In addition, he developed part of his thesis about parallel computing at the University of Graz, Austria. After receiving his Doctorate in 2013, he started an academic career in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at USACH. He researches thermal storage with phase change materials, nanofluids, and computational fluid dynamics using software based on the finite volume method.
Prof. Dr. Assed Naked Haddad received his Bachelor of Law from Fluminense University Center in 1993, a Master in Civil Engineering from Universidade Federal Fluminense in 1992, and a Ph.D. in Production Engineering from COPPE/Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in 1996 with a Post-doctorate from the University of Florida–USA in 2006, the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya–Spain in 2010, and the University of New South Wales Sydney–Australia in 2019. He is a Civil Engineer from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and a Full Professor at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. He is also a Visiting Professor at the University of Florida, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Universitat Rovira i Virgili, and Western Sydney University. He is also a guest editor of the International Journal of Construction Management, associate editor of Frontiers in the Built Environment/Sustainable Design and Construction, guest editor of Frontiers in the Built Environment/Construction Management, and academic editor of the Civil Engineering section of Hindawi Engineering Journal. His main research areas include civil construction, risk management, life cycle assessment, and environmental safety.
