Joo-Yong Kim received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in fiber and
polymer science and engineering from Seoul National University, Seoul, Republic
of Korea, in 1990 and 1992, respectively. He is currently a professor at the
Department of Organic Materials and Fiber Engineering of Soongsil University,
Seoul, Korea, where he has worked since 1999 after completing a Ph.D. at North
Carolina State University, Raleigh, USA. From 1998 to 1999, he was a
post-doctoral researcher at the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace
Engineering of UCLA, California, USA. His research interests include the
development of smart textile products based on electronic fibers.
