Author Biographies

Iñigo Martínez de Alegría is a Ph.D. in Sciences, Physics Section, since 2012, with the mention of "International Doctor" and winner of the "GL Garrad Hassan Global Ph.D. Award in Renewable Energy 2012". Before joining the university, he was part of the Control Engineering Department of the IKERLAN Technology Center and the AZTERLAN Metallurgical Laboratory. In 1999, he joined the UPV/EHU as a part-time Collaborating Professor, and from 2000, he worked full-time in the area of ​​Electronic Technology. Currently, he is an Associate Professor in the Electronic Technology Department of the UPV-EHU.
Iñigo Rozas Holgado graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) in 2018. He continued his education by completing his MSc degree in Renewable Energies in the Marine Environment (REM) through an Erasmus Mundus program, a collaborative initiative between UPV/EHU, the University of Strathclyde, and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in 2020. Currently, he works as a researcher supported by the NextGeneration EU initiative, while also working on his Ph.D. focusing on "Wireless Power Transfer for Autonomous Underwater Vehicles."
Prof. Dr. Edorta Ibarra is currently an Associate Professor of Electronic Technology at the Applied Electronics Research Team (APERT), University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). He teaches Computer Architecture (Graduate in Management Computer and Systems Information Engineering) courses. He completed his Ph.D. studies in electronics engineering at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) in 2011. From 2014 to 2016, he worked at Tecnalia Research and Innovation. He has been a Member of the Editorial Board of the EKAIA scientific magazine since 2015.
Dr. Eider Robles, B.Sc. in Electronic Engineering (2001), M.Sc. in Electronic and Automatic engineering from the University of Deusto, Spain (2003), and Ph.D. degree in electronic engineering (Cum Laude, Extraordinary Prize) from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) in 2010. Since 2012, she has been an Associate Professor in the Automatic Control and Systems Engineering Department at the University of the Basque Country. Since 2003, she has been with TECNALIA, where she is currently a Research Engineer in the offshore renewable energy area. She has more than 15 years of experience working on European and local research projects. She is the author or co-author of more than 50 technical papers, around 50 contributions to international conferences, and has co-authored 2 patents and 1 technical book. She is also a regular reviewer in international journals. Her main research activity deals with power electronics, control, and grid connection of offshore renewable energy systems. She received recognition from the Basque government for her research work and scientific and technological merit in 2018. Currently she is the Scientific Director of the Joint Research Laboratory on Offshore Renewable Energy (JRL-ORE).
José Luís Martín received M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of the Basque Country, Spain, in 1988 and 1992, respectively. He was the director of the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications (1995-2001), deputy director of the Bilbao School of Engineering (2001-2005), Bizkaia Campus development director (2005-2013), general secretary (2013-2017) and vice-rector for research (2017-2021) of the University of the Basque Country. Since 2002, he has headed the Applied Electronics Research Group (APERT), recognized by the Basque Government as Group A (maximum status). His research interests are power electronics and systems-on-programmable chips.
