Dr. Anna M. Waszkielewicz is a doctor of pharmaceutical sciences with a specialty in medicinal chemistry and a DSc in pharmaceutical sciences. She has the position of assistant professor in the Department of Bioorganic Chemistry and Chair in Organic Chemistry in the Faculty of Pharmacy at Jagiellonian University Medical College in Krakow, Poland. She graduated from her pharmaceutical studies in 2003, started doctoral studies, and pursued a Ph.D. in the Faculty of Pharmacy at Jagiellonian University Medical College in Krakow, Poland in the field of synthesis of novel compounds in 2008. She has been granted patents for new compounds for the treatment of neurological diseases in the US, EPO, Russia, and Poland. Since 2011, she has been the coordinator of cooperation between the National Cancer Institute and Jagiellonian University Medical College in the discovery of anticancer drug candidates. Her research interests include drug design, structure–activity relationships, biochemistry, and bioorganic compounds. Currently, she also designs and synthesizes analgesic, anticonvulsant, antidepressant, anticancer, antimicrobial, antidiabetic, and cardiovascular compounds. She is the author of 86 scientific publications, most of which were published in peer-reviewed journals in these fields, and her h-index is 19 (source: Scopus).
