James Langabeer, PhD, EdD, FAHA, is an endowed tenured full professor of emergency medicine, behavioral science, and data science at the University of Texas in the Texas Medical Center (UTHealth), where he serves as Executive Director of a large research center. He also runs an independent healthcare strategy consulting practice, Yellowstone Advisors. James has led major clinical research projects that have garnered national acclaim across cardiovascular, emergency, and addiction medicine, and is especially known for his work as the national Chair of the American Heart Association's ambulatory quality committee and his work in inter-organizational collaboration. With expertise in outcomes research, economics, and psychology, he has been quoted or appeared in Oprah, Forbes, MoneyGeek, NerdWallet, Success, Texas Monthly, NBC, Fox, CBS News, and NPR, among others. James has published over 125 peer-reviewed journal articles and seven books, including one of the most widely used healthcare management textbooks.
Dr. Karima Lalani is the Program Director of the Master’s and Bachelor’s degree programs in Health Informatics and Health Information Management at the University of Washington School of Public Health. Dr. Lalani holds a Ph.D. in Health Policy and Management, and is a seasoned healthcare management researcher and professional, with over 15 years of experience in healthcare workforce education and training, strategic planning, and digital health. She is a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), and a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE). Dr. Lalani’s research interests include health informatics, digital health, workforce development, interprofessional education, COVID-19’s impact on the mental health of first responders and healthcare workers, and teaching hospitals.
