Dr. Eduardo Gudiña earned a degree in Biology from the
Faculty of Environmental and Biological Sciences, University of León (Spain).
Then, he completed his PhD studies in Biological Science at the same school.
He is now a Postdoctoral Researcher at Centre of Biological Engineering (CEB),
University of Minho, Portugal. He has published 52 papers in various journals,
receiving more than 4300 citations (Scopus, March 2024). He
also serves as a reviewer for international journals as well as a member of
Editorial Boards. He works in several projects related with the application of biosurfactants in different fields (biomedicine, bioremediation, agriculture, and microbial enhanced oil recovery). His research activities include the isolation and study of
biosurfactant-producing microorganisms; optimization of biosurfactants and
biopolymer production using agro-industrial by-products; characterization of
different biosurfactant molecules; development of microbial-enhanced oil
recovery techniques.
Dr. Claudia Botelho completed her PhD in Science Engineering
at the Porto University in 2005. She is now a Researcher at Centre of
Biological Engineering (CEB), University of Minho. She supervised Master’s and
PhD’s theses, as well as postdoctoral researchers. Furthermore, she has been
invited to be a lecturer at Minho University (Department of Biologic
Engineering and Department of Biology) several times. Dr. Claudia Botelho has
published 59 papers in various journals, with a h-index of 20 (Scopus, April
2024). She also serves as a member of a scientific journal Editorial Board and
a reviewer for various journals. Currently, her work focuses on the characterization
of active molecules with health benefits to be encapsulated in particular nanocarriers (patent pending) to efficiently deliver the molecules to target cells.
