Prof. Dr. Paolo Golino is a professor of Cardiology at the Second University of Naples, a director of the Department of Cardio-Thoracic and Respiratory Sciences at the Second University of Naples and the chief of Cardiology at San Sebastiano Hospital. He received his MD at the University of Naples “Federico II” School of Medicine. He has been awarded the Young Investigator Award from G.I.S.E., the Young Investigator Award from the Italian Society of Cardiology, the “Mack-Forster Award” of the European Society for Clinical Investigation, the Young Investigator Award from the Italian Society of Cardiology, the “Scholar in Cardiology” Award from the Italian Society of Cardiology, etc. He serves on several national and international scientific advisory boards, including editorial activity reviewer of the American Journal of Cardiology, Basic Research in Cardiology, Cardiovascular Research, Circulation, Circulation Research, Coronary Artery Disease, Journal of the American College of Cardiology, Journal of Cardiovascular Pharmacology, Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis, European Heart Journal, etc., and on the editorial board of Circulation, Journal of the American College of Cardiology, Journal of Cardiovascular Medicine, and European Heart Journal. His research interests include cardiovascular disease; vascular medicine; insulin resistance; atherosclerosis; and myocardial infarction.
Prof. Dr. Giovanni Cimmino is an associate professor of Cardiology at the Department of Translational Medical Sciences, University of Campania "Luigi Vanvitelli". He completed his PhD at the Department of Cardio-Thoracic and Respiratory Sciences Division of Cardiology, Second University of Naples, Italy. Then, he became a post-doctoral research fellow at Atherothrombosis Research Unit, Cardiovascular Institute, Mount Sinai Hospital, New York (February 2006-March 2010); the Department of Cardio-Thoracic and Respiratory Sciences, Division of Cardiology, Second University of Naples, Italy (April -September 2010); and the Department of Cardio-Thoracic and Respiratory Sciences, Division of Cardiology, Second University of Naples, Italy (July 2011-June 2013). He has been awarded the Young Investigator Award from the Italian Society of Cardiology and a Special mention from the Accademia Ercolanese. He is also a member of the Italian Society of Cardiology. He is a cardiologist with expertise in the basic mechanisms of atherosclerosis, platelet aggregation, and thrombus formation.
