Author Biographies

Mihaela Hăbeanu, Ph.D., is a senior researcher in the animal nutrition field and has a rich scientific experience of more than 27 years. From a managerial point of view, from 2010–2020, she was head of the Animal Nutrition Laboratory; from 2014–2019, she was the Coordinator of Biotechnology Laboratory activities; and starting in 2020 up to 2022, she led the Animal Nutrition and Biotechnology Laboratory. She currently works at the Research Station for Sericulture Baneasa Bucharest, in the silkworm rearing field. In her area of interest, an important place is taken up by studies regarding the interrelation between nutritional factors and insect/animal metabolic response, fatty acids and amino acids metabolism, and the implications on health status, dietary manipulation, product quality, digestibility, and animal performances. In the same way, her studies include using silkworm by-products in animal feeding and ways of valorization with a focus on pupae.
Anca Gheorghe graduated from the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Bucharest and received her Ph.D. in Animal Science from the same place. She is a Senior Researcher at the Research Station of Sericulture Baneasa Bucharest and the National Research Development Institute for Animal Biology and Nutrition, Romania. The major focus of her research is poultry nutrition, feed additives, feed ingredients, and by-products.
Georgeta Dinita is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Animal Productions Engineering and Management, University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest, Romania. She received her Doctoral Degree in Animal Science from the same university in 2003. Her teaching and research activities include beekeeping, sericulture, technology of bee products, sensory analysis of food, and biosecurity on the beekeeping branch.
