Conor Skerritt has a Diploma in Clinical Education from the National University of Ireland, Galway, and a Diploma in Regional Anaesthesia from the European Society of Regional Anaesthesia and Pain Therapy. He also obtained his Postgraduate Certificate in Healthcare Management at the UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School. Before his current role, he was a Senior Clinical Fellow in Regional Anaesthesia at the North Bristol NHS Trust (2018–2019) and a Consultant Anaesthetist at the Mater Private Hospital (2019–2022). He is now a consultant anaesthetist at the National Orthopaedic Hospital Cappagh and Mater Misericordiae University Hospital. He also has a position as an Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor at University College Dublin.
Prof. Donal J Buggy has been a UCD Full Professor of Anaesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine and Consultant in Anaesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital since 2001. He took up the part-time post of UCD Full Professor of Anaesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine in November 2012, having been appointed Professor on the Adjunct Clinical Faculty in 2008. He was elected President-elect 2024–2027 of the College of Anaesthesiology of Ireland (CAI). The overarching coherence of his research work is the evaluation of how anaesthetic techniques and perioperative interventions may influence early, intermediate, and longer-term patient-centric postoperative outcomes. He was conferred with the highest doctorate, Doctor of Science (DSc) by NUI in 2022 in recognition of this sustained impact in clinical science. His research group is at the forefront of worldwide research on how perioperative factors such as anaesthesia and analgesia for cancer surgery might influence cancer recurrence and metastasis. In May 2020, he was appointed the Principal Investigator of the ESA-IC-sponsored prospective observational study entitled "Management and Outcome of Perioperative Care of European Diabetic Patients" (MOPED).
