Author Biographies

Zhenquan Wei received his doctorate from the Guangzhou Institute of Geochemistry, Chinese Academy of Science in 2007. He is currently a professor at the Guangzhou Marine Geological Survey. He has worked in the field of deep-sea geological research and resource exploration for more than ten years and has served as the Chief Scientist of oceanic cruises for scientific expeditions organized by the China Ocean Mineral Resource R&D Association (COMRA) and the China Geological Survey. He has been responsible for many deep-sea research projects, and his research mainly focuses on the metallogenic theory of polymetallic nodules/cobalt-rich crusts and the geological structure of seamounts.
Jinfeng Ma received her Master's degree from Ji'nan University in 2007. She is currently a senior engineer with the Guangzhou Marine Geological Survey. She has worked in the field of deep-sea resource exploration for more than ten years and is responsible for many deep-sea research projects. Her research focuses on data processing and underwater topographic and geomorphological surveys. She mainly works with sonar data for marine mineral exploration. She has led more than ten national and oceanic research projects, as well as the "13th Five-Year" National Oceanic Special Research Project ("Rapid Mineral Search Methods for Polymetallic Nodules and Delineation of Mineralisation Enrichment Zones"). She has also worked on several exploration projects under the Ministry of Natural Resources, such as "Research on deep-sea acoustic echo sounding technology systems and key sampling technology", etc. Her research results include three national invention patents and several articles related to deep-sea resource exploration.
