Akie Kobayashi graduated from Tohoku University and received her Ph.D. Then, she worked at the Yamagata University and National Institute of Genetics Research as a Ph.D. researcher. She was an Assistant Professor at the Graduate School of Life Sciences, Department of Environmental Life Sciences, Tohoku University until March 2020. Her research interests lie in the elucidation of the mechanism of hydrotropism in plants.
Dr. Rengin Ozgur Uzilday has a position as an Assistant Professor and is currently working at the Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, Ege University, İzmir, Turkey. She received her Ph.D. from the Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, Ege University, in 2015. Her research interests mainly include Plant Molecular Genetics, Natural Sciences, Plant Biology, Plant Physiology, Life Sciences, Molecular Biology and Genetics, the Basic Fields of Science and Mathematics, Biology, and Plant Physiology. She is the author of 42 scientific publications, most of which were published in peer-reviewed journals in these fields (source from ResearchGate). She is a member of the Turkish Biochemistry Association, the Society of Experimental Biology, the Federation of European Societies of Plant Biology (FESPB), and the Molecular Biology Association.
Prof. Dr. Nobuharu Fujii graduated from the School of Biology of Tsukuba University, completed the master’s program in Environmental Sciences at Tsukuba University, and then obtained a doctorate (Ph.D., Science) from the Graduate School of Science of The University of Tokyo. When he worked as an assistant at the Institute of Genetic Ecology at Tohoku University, he visited the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Missouri as an overseas research scholar (1999–2000). In 2001, he became an associate professor at the Graduate School of Life Sciences at Tohoku University. He is a member of the Japanese Society for Biological Sciences in Space, the Japanese Society of Plant Physiologists, the Botanical Society of Japan, and the Tohoku Botanical Society. His research interests mainly include applied molecular and cellular biology and plants: molecular biology and physiology. He is the author of 75 scientific publications, most of which were published in peer-reviewed journals in these fields and his h-index is 26 (source from Scopus).
Hideyuki Takahashi received his B.S. and M.S. from Yamagata University. Then, he obtained his Ph.D. at the Tohoku University. After that, he was a post-doctoral fellow at Wake Forest University (1982–1985). Then, he was a Research Associate/Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Full Professor at the Tohoku University in 1985–2020. In 1989–1991, he was also a Visiting Scholar at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In 2020, he was awarded the title of Emeritus Professor of Tohoku University. He has been a Project Professor at the Graduate School of Horticulture, Chiba University, since 2023. He has been devoted to plant space biology for a long time and conducted four spaceflight experiments on the Space Shuttle and International Space Station. Recently, he has started fundamental studies to grow plants in a plant/food production system for human space habitation.
Prof. Dr. Ismail Turkan has a position as a Full Professor at the Department of Soil Science and Plant Nutrition, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies, Yasar University, Izmir, Turkey. He graduated from the Department of Botany, Faculty of Science, at the Ege University, Izmır, Turkey, and received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. here. In 2014, he won the Scientific Copyright and Translation Work Awards Program for Scientific/Professional Studies, Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA). In 2020, He won the Science Award in Basic Sciences from the Technical and Scientific Council of Turkey (TUBİTAK). Presently, he is acting as an associate editor of Functional Plant Biology and Editorial Board Member of Environmental and Experimental Botany, Turkish Journal of Botany, and Turkish Journal of Biology. He was the Assistant Editor of the Turkish Journal of Botany and an Editorial Board Member of the Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry. His research areas include Plant Biology, Plant Physiology and Molecular Physiology, and Plant Stress Physiology.
