Dr Michael Vrahnakis (BA, Ph.D.) is a Professor at the University of Thessaly, Department of Forestry, Wood Sciences and Design (Karditsa, Greece). He holds a Ph.D. in Rangeland Science. His research interests are in rangeland ecology and management, floristic diversity, and agroforestry. He has published more than 70 papers in peer-reviewed journals, conferences, symposia, and workshops. He is an invited reviewer in international and Greek scientific journals. He is the author of 19 books or chapters in books. Dr Vrahnakis has supervised or participated in more than 30 research projects and 20 management studies on rangelands or protected natural areas. He has taught a wide range of courses related to rangeland ecology, rangeland management, biodiversity, and agroforestry, both at a postgraduate and undergraduate level, in several academic faculties of Greece. Dr Vrahnakis was Vice-Rector of TEI of Thessaly (2015-2019). He was a member of the 7-chair Executive Committee of the international organization Eurasian Dry Grassland Group (2009-2019).
