Author Biographies

Calin Deleanu is a Senior Researcher at the “Costin D. Nenitescu” Institute of Organic and Supramolecular Chemistry, Bucharest. He is leading the Group of Biospectroscopy jointly founded by the “Petru Poni” Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry, Iasi and the “Costin D. Nenitescu” Institute of Organic and Supramolecular Chemistry. He graduated from the University Politehnica of Bucharest and received his PhD in chemistry from the same university. After graduating he was continuously involved in research and teaching activities at the “Costin D. Nenitescu” Centre of Organic Chemistry, Bucharest (currently the Institute of Organic and Supramolecular Chemistry), “Petru Poni” Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry, Iasi, University Politehnica of Bucharest, and the “Carol Davila” University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Bucharest. His research interests include NMR studies in chemistry, medicine and food sciences as well as organic synthesis. He was awarded the “Costin D. Nenitescu” Medal and “Petru Poni” Medal by the Romanian Chemical Society and the Prize of the Romanian Academy. He is founding member of the Romanian Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine, founding member of the Romanian Chapter of the American Chemical Society and member of the Romanian Chemical Society.
Dr. Alina Nicolescu is a Senior Researcher at the "Petru Poni" Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry. She received her PhD in Chemistry in 2016 from the Romanian Academy Doctoral School and her current research interests include structural and stereochemical studies of organic, organometallic and macromolecular compounds, as well as NMR metabolomics in life sciences. She is currently the manager of the NMR facility in the "Petru Poni" Institute. She was awarded the “Costin D. Nenitescu” Medal of the Romanian Chemical Society in 2015. She won the Romanian Academy's Prize in 2018 and the "Researcher of the Year Trophy for Women in Science", sponsored by UNESCO and L'Oreal, in 2012. She is also a founding member of the Romanian Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine and a member of the Romanian Chemical Society.
