José Luis Parra y Alfaro is has a Doctorate in Mining Engineering. He is a Professor at the Departamento de Ingeniería Geológica y Minera since 1995, belonging to the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros de Minas y Energía (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid). Previously, he was the Director of LOEMCO (Laboratorio Oficial para Ensayo de Materiales de Construcción) and Director of the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros de Minas y Energía (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid). Currently, he is the Director of the Spanish Environmental Club. His field of teaching and research focuses on mineral resources, especially with regard to characterisation and industrial applications.
