Dr. Sonia Facchin is a senior research consultant at the Department of Surgery, Oncology and Gastroenterology, University of Padova. She received her Bachelor’s in Biological Sciences and completed her Ph.D in Biochemistry and Biophysics at the University of Padova. She has gained extensive experience in the field of Biochemistry (extraction, purification, and analysis of protein kinases), nanotechnologies (R&D manager at Ananasnanotech), and inflammatory bowel diseases ( IBD), concurrently developing skills in the analysis of intestinal microbiota and Fecal Microbiota Transplantation (FMT).

Dr. Marco Scarpa graduated from the Medical School of the University of Padova in 1997 and specialized in General Surgery in 2003. He attended Queen Elizabeth Hospital (Birmingham), Mount Sinai Hospital (Toronto), and Academisch Medisch Centrum (Amsterdam) as an honorary research fellow. In 2007, he completed his Ph.D at the University of Padova. From 2010 to 2018, he has been part of the surgical staff at the Veneto Institute of Oncology, Padova. He has been working at the Padova University Hospital since 2018. His specific interests are in quality of life after surgery for inflammatory bowel disease, colorectal and esophageal cancer; ostomy; laparoscopic colorectal and upper GI surgery, immunology of inflammatory bowel disease, and immunosurveillance for colorectal and esophageal cancer. He is the principal investigator in several studies and he is the author of more than 160 articles.
Dr. Cesare Ruffolo is an Attending Surgeon at the University Hospital of Padova. He received his Medical degree at Padua University in 1999 and specialized in General Surgery at Padua University in 2005. He completed his Ph.D. studies in Surgical Sciences and Technological Applications in 2009. He also obtained a Master's Diploma in Colorectal Surgery at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Rome in 2022. His areas of expertise are laparoscopic surgery, ulcerative colitis, colorectal cancer, general surgery, etc.
Prof. Dr. Imerio Angriman is an Associate Professor at the Surgical Unit, Department of Surgery, Oncology & Gastroenterology, University of Padova. He is also a teacher at the Medical School of the University of Padova. He received his Medical degree at the University of Padova in 1988 and completed a residency in General Surgery at the same university in 1993. He is an invited speaker at international meetings. He is the author or co‑author of more than 200 publications.
