Louis Angelo Danao is presently a Professor at
the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of the Philippines Diliman.
He obtained his PhD in 2012 from the University of Sheffield, Sheffield, UK,
where he conducted experimental and numerical work related to the performance
and aerodynamics of vertical axis wind turbines. Prior to this, he was involved
in several solid mechanics studies including the analysis of abdominal aortic
aneurysms and the deformation of external fixator for tibial fractures using
finite element analysis. He also developed mathematical models for the torsion
of solid and hollow rectangular sections using analytical and FEA approaches.
Presently, he is carrying out work on the design and performance analysis of
horizontal axis tidal turbines. He is a member of the American Society of
Mechanical Engineers, the Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers, and the
International Association of Engineers.
Joey D.Ocon is a Full Professor and the Co-founding Head of the Laboratory of Electrochemical Engineering of the University of the Philippines Diliman. A former Chair of the UP Department of Chemical Engineering, he has BS (2008) and MS (2011) in Chemical Engineering degrees from the same university and a Ph.D. in Environmental Science and Engineering (2015) degree from Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology South Korea. He is an expert on batteries, fuel cells, electrochemical technologies, energy systems, and off-grid electrification and has led more than twentry R&D projects from atomic-scale to energy systems research. He is an energy practice consultant in several organizations, including power companies and The World Bank. Prof. Ocon is also a Co-founder and Chief Science Officer of the battery technology start-up Nascent Battery Solutions Technologies.
