Author Biographies

Associate Professor Dr. Atila Kartal is a faculty member within the Turkish Language and Literature Department at Akdeniz University. Continuing his academic trajectory, Dr. Kartal pursued advanced studies, culminating in the completion of his Master's degree with a thesis in Turkish Language and Literature, focusing specifically on the Department of Turkish Folklore, at Selcuk University in 2011. He furthered his scholarly pursuits by successfully defending his doctoral dissertation within the same department at Selcuk University in 2017. Dr. Kartal concentrated his doctoral research on the field of folk beliefs, thus earning his doctoral title. In 2014, Dr. Kartal was appointed as a research assistant within the Turkish Language and Literature Department at Akdeniz University. Currently holding the rank of Associate Professor, he specializes in Turkish Language and Literature with a focus on Turkish Folklore at Akdeniz University.  His scholarly output includes numerous articles, books, and book chapters exploring diverse topics such as beliefs, traditions, rituals, cultural heritage, transitional periods, shamanism, and related subjects pertaining to Turkish society and culture.
Dr. Kemal Şimşek earned his Bachelor's degree from Bursa Uludağ University Faculty of Theology in 1999. Subsequently, from 2003 to 2014, he held various roles as an educator and administrator within the Ministry of Education. In 2014, he embarked on his academic career as a lecturer specializing in Arabic Language and Rhetoric at the Faculty of Islamic Sciences at İbrahim Çeçen University. Following this, he served as a lecturer at Bozok University Faculty of Theology during the academic year 2016-2017. In 2018, Dr. Şimşek joined Akdeniz University Faculty of Theology, where he currently holds his position. He obtained his Master's degree in exegesis from Van Yüzüncü Yıl University, Faculty of Theology, Department of Basic Islamic Sciences, in 2015. He successfully completed his doctoral studies in Arabic Language and Rhetoric at Bursa Uludağ University Faculty of Theology Department of Basic Islamic Sciences, in 2022. Dr. Şimşek has made significant contributions to his field, as evidenced by the publication of two books and relevant articles within his area of expertise.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Haktan KAPLAN was born in Ankara in 1991. In 2009, he won the Department of Turkish Language and Literature at Selcuk University, Faculty of Letters. He graduated from the same department in 2013. In 2016, Haktan Kaplan joined the Institute of Social Sciences at Necmettin Erbakan University, retired Assist. He received his specialization degree with his master's thesis titled "Brotherhood and Brotherhood in the Epics of the Turkic World", which he prepared under the supervision of Assistant Prof. Dr. Aziz AYVA. Again, under the roof of the same university and institute under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Selçuk PEKER, he graduated with his doctoral thesis titled "Tombs and Visiting Places in Bolu and Düzce Folk Culture" and received his doctorate degree. Since 2021, under the direction of Selcuk University Turkish Language Department, Lecturer. He started to work as an Asst. Dr. and still continues to carry out this duty and academic studies. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Haktan Kaplan has three scientific books and two textbooks. In addition, he has seven book chapters and twelve articles published in national and international journals. In addition, Kaplan has eight papers in national and international symposiums in different years. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Haktan KAPLAN, who is married and has one child, is still working at Selcuk University, Department of Turkish Language.
