Dr. Giulia Bononi is a researcher in medicinal chemistry at the Department of Pharmacy, University of Pisa (IT). She graduated with honors in medicinal chemistry and pharmaceutical technology in 2017. In November 2017, she won a one-year research scholarship at the Department . of Pharmacy, University of Pisa. In November 2018, she started her PhD at the Graduate School in Science of Drugs and Bioactive Substances, University of Pisa, under the supervision of Prof. F. Minutolo and Prof. C. Granchi. On June 20, 2022, she defended her PhD thesis, and she obtained the maximum grade in the evaluation process by an international committee of experts. From February 2020 to July 2020, she was a visiting PhD student at the Cancer Center of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (NL) in the research group of Prof. E. Giovannetti, working on the pharmacological evaluation of MAGL inhibitors on pancreatic cancer cells. From March 2022 to May 2023, she held a position as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Dept. of Pharmacy, University of Pisa, in the laboratory of the Molecular Modeling and Virtual Screening Laboratory, headed by Prof. T. Tuccinardi. On May 20, 2023, she won a Junior Researcher (RTDA) position at the Department . of Pharmacy, University of Pisa. Her research interests primarily focus on the development of therapeutic and diagnostic agents targeting tumor metabolism.

Dr. Tiziano Tuccinardi is a full professor at the Department of Pharmacy, University of Pisa, Italy. He completed his graduation in C.T.F. (pharmaceutical chemistry and technologies) from the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Pisa in 2002 with a score of 110/110 cum laude. He also received his PhD degree in medicinal chemistry from the same university in 2006. From December 2007 to March 2015, he was appointed as an assistant professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Pisa. In 2009, he spent 5 months as a visiting researcher at the Department of Chemistry, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Urbana, IL, USA. From November 2009 to July 2014, he served as an adjunct assistant professor at the Sbarro Institute for Cancer Research. and Molecular Medicine, Center for Biotechnology, Temple University, Philadelphia, PA, USA. In January 2014, he received the National Scientific Qualification for the role of Associate Professor (3/D1 sector). Since April Since 2015, he has been serving as an Associate Professor of Medicinal Chemistry at the Department of Pharmacy of the University of Pisa. Since July 2016, he has been an adjunct associate professor at the Department of Biology, Temple University’s College of Science and Technology, Philadelphia, PA, USA. In 2010, he was awarded the 'Farmindustria Prize for Pharmaceutical Research', which is dedicated to scientists younger than 40 years old.

Prof. Dr. Carlotta Granchi works as an Associate Professor of Medicinal Chemistry at the Department of Pharmacy, University of Pisa, Italy. She graduated in chemistry and pharmaceutical technology from the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Pisa in 2007. In 2011, she received a Ph.D. in medicinal chemistry. During her Ph.D., she spent a research period in the group of Prof. Paul J. Hergenrother at the Department of Chemistry, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (USA). From April 2011 to October 2016, she was a post-doctoral fellow, working on the design, synthesis, and biochemical evaluation of anticancer agents. In the period November 2016–October 2019, she was a Senior Fixed-Term Research Fellow in Medicinal Chemistry at the Department of Pharmacy of the University of Pisa. Since 2017, she has been affiliated as an assistant professor at the Sbarro Health Research Organization (SHRO) at Temple University in Philadelphia, USA.. In November 2020, she received the National Scientific Qualification for the role of Full Professor. She has published more than 90 papers in international journals, 10 patents, and more than 30 contributions to national and international conferences. Since 2016, she has been a member of the scientific committee of BioFuture Medicine SRL Startup. She is a reviewer for many international journals. She is a member of the Editorial Board of Molecules—Medicinal Chemistry Section (MDPI).
