Author Biographies

Gama Ali received his M.Eng. degree in Electrical Engineering from Lausitz University, Germany, in 2005. He is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Dalhousie University, Canada. He has over thirteen years of teaching and research experience and has published in Elsevier, IEEE conferences, and academic journals. His research interests include distributed generation, green energy, optimization, power transmission and distribution, power quality management, and smart grids.
Hamed H. Aly (S’09-M’12-SM’16) received his B.Eng. and MASc degrees in Electrical Engineering with distinction in 1999 and 2005, respectively, from Zagazig University, Egypt and his Ph.D. degree from Dalhousie University, Canada in 2012. He worked as a postdoctoral research associate for one year and as an instructor for three years at Dalhousie University. He worked at Acadia University as an assistant professor for three years. Dr. Aly is currently working as an assistant professor at Dalhousie University. His research interests include microgrids, smart grids, distributed generation, power quality issues, applications of artificial intelligence in power systems, energy management, green energy, and optimization.
Timothy A. Little, Ph.D., P.Eng., is the associate dean of the Faculty of Engineering and a full-time associate professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Dalhousie University, Canada. His research interests include engineering education, wind energy and renewable generation, power electronics, and electromechanical energy conversion.
