Dr. Holger Prokisch is a Senior Scientist and the head of Genetics of Mitochondrial Disorders for a research group at the Institute of Human Genetics of the Technical University of Munich and the Helmholtz Zentrum München. He completed his undergraduate and graduate studies at the Technical University of Hannover. Later, he did his postdoctoral training at the Institute for Physiological Chemistry, University of Munich. Before the current position, he used to be a head of the Biogenesis of Mitochondria research group at the same institute. Dr. Holger Prokisch’s research interests cover the area of understanding the genetic variation in both rare and common disorders that lead to mitochondria-related disease. He has published over 380 publications with the h-index of 83 (Scopus, February 2024).
