Simona Serini completed her MSc degree in Biological
Sciences in 1999 at Tor Vergata University, Rome, Italy, a
Post-graduate Diploma (Specialty) in “Clinical Pathology” in 2004, and a Ph.D.
degree in “Integrated Oncology” in 2009 at the Catholic University School of
Medicine, Rome, Italy. Since 2011 she has been an Assistant Professor at the
Catholic University School of Medicine, Rome, Italy. She is a lecturer of
General Pathology and Physiopathology in different courses at the School of
Medicine, Catholic University of Sacred Heart, Rome, Italy. Her scientific
interests are in the area of neoplastic and inflammatory disease research, with
particular attention to the molecular bases of cancer and the role of nutrition
in the prevention/therapy of cancer. She has authored and co-authored over 60
publications in international peer-reviewed journals.
Gabriella Calviello
is currently an Associate Professor of General Pathology at the Università
Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Faculty of Medicine and Surgery. She graduated in
Biological Sciences at La Sapienza University, Rome, Italy, in 1978. She
obtained a Post-graduate Specialty Diploma in General Pathology at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in 1982. She
obtained the National Scientific Qualification for First Level Professor MED 06
in 2012. She held the role of Researcher at the Institute of General Pathology,
Catholic University, Rome, from 1985 to 1999. She held a Postdoctoral Fellowship
at the Cardiovascular Research Center of CIBA-GEIGY, Basel, Switzerland, from 1987 to 1988. She is the Coordinator of the 2nd year of the Degree
Course in Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics. She holds various positions in
academic bodies, commissions and committees of the Catholic University as an
elected or appointed representative of the second-level professors.
