Dr. Erica Maffei is an MD, Senior Consultant Radiologist at IRCCS SYNLAB SDN, Department of Radiology. She obtained her Surgery-MD Degree from the School of Medicine, University of Parma in 1996–2002. In 2002–2006, she worked as a Radiology Resident at the University of Parma, where she was Board Certified in Radiology. In 2007–2015, she worked as a Staff Cardiovascular Radiologist at the Academic Hospital of Parma-Giovanni XXIII Hospital of Monastier. In 2015–2017, she was a Coordinator of CT Core Lab and a Researcher at Montréal Heart Institute. In 2017–2022, she was a Staff Radiologist in the Department of Radiology, Area Vasta 1—ASUR Marche and, in 2022–2023, she was a Staff Radiologist in the Department of Imaging, Fondazione Monasterio/CNR. Her main research interests include cardiac, thoracic, abdominal, vascular imaging, and medical images post-processing.
Dr. Alberto Clemente is an MD, Radiologist in the Department of Radiology, Fondazione Gabriele Monasterio Regione Toscana CNR, Pisa, Italy. He received his M.D. Degree from Università degli Studi di Ferrara. He was a member of the Executive Board at the Italian College of Cardiac Radiology of SIRM (Italian Society of Radiology) from January 2017–December 2018. He is a Specialist in Radiology, Expert in Photon Counting CT, cardiovascular diagnostics CT, MRI and ECD of pediatric and adult age, and advanced cardiac diagnostics with computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging.
Dr. Carmelo De Gori is an MD and Radiologist in the Department of Radiology, Fondazione Gabriele Monasterio Regione Toscana CNR, Pisa, Italy. He worked as a full-time family physician at AZIENDA SANITARIA REGIONALE TOSCANA in December 2015–November 2018 and completed a Radiology Residency at Università di Pisa in November 2018–November 2022. In 2021–2022, he became a Research Fellow in the field of advanced cardiovascular imaging at Fondazione Gabriele Monasterio Regione Toscana CNR. Since December 2022, he has been a full-time Medical Doctor at Fondazione Gabriele Monasterio Regione Toscana CNR. His research areas mainly include diagnostics, histopathology, and prognosis.
Dr. Mariaelena Occhipinti is an MD, PhD, and Cardiothoracic Radiologist at the Fondazione Gabriele Monasterio Regione Toscana CNR and is also the Chief Medical Officer at Radiomics. She received her MD Degree in Medicine and Surgery from Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in 2002–2009 and her PhD degree in Clinical Sciences from Università degli Studi di Firenze in 2016–2019. She was a Specialist in Radiology, Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in 2010–2015. She worked as a Researcher in the Radiology Department, at Università degli Studi di Firenze in 2016–2020, and as a Diagnostic Radiologist at Diagnostic Centers in Tuscany in 2016–2022. She was awarded the Trainee Research Prize (RSNA) in 2016 and Abilitazione Scientifica Nazionale Professore

Dr. Sergio Berti serves as Managing Director of the Cardiovascular Department at Fondazione Toscana Monasterio, Italy. He focuses on the percutaneous interventional treatment of structural heart diseases. Previously, he has served as a Full Professor at the School of Cardiology of the University of Florence and as President of the Tuscan Italian Society of Interventional Cardiology. He specialises in cardiology, radiology, and nuclear medicine. He is widely published in leading peer-reviewed international journals. He has served as Principal Investigator and on the steering committees of several leading drug and device-based clinical trials. He has been a Member and Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), Member of the European Association of Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions (EAPCI-ESC), and a Member and Fellow of the Italian Society of Interventional Cardiology (GISE). He is currently President of the ONLUS Foundation of the Italian Society of Interventional Cardiology GISE “For research and innovation in cardiology”.

Dr. Cesare Mantini is an MD, PhD, Radiologist at “SS Annunziata” Hospital and Institute for Advanced Biomedical Technologies (ITAB), Department of Neuroscience and Imaging, “G. D’Annunzio” University, Chieti, Italy. He received his MD Degree from the University of Chieti/IT in 2006 and, in the same year, he obtained Medical Board Certification from the University of Chieti/IT. He received his PhD Degree from the Department of Neuroscience and Imaging “G. d’Annunzio” University, Chieti, Italy in 2015. He has 5 years of post-residency full-time staff Radiologist experience and core clinical experience in cardiac, thoracic, vascular radiology (CT and MRI). He has 80 publications with more than 600 citations (ResearchGate, 21 March 2024). His main areas of expertise are related to advanced cardiovascular imaging techniques, especially US, CT, and MR.
Dr. Carlo Cavaliere is an MD, PhD, Radiologist, and Adjunct Professor of Radiology at the IRCCS SYNLAB SDN, Department of Radiology, Naples, Italy. He obtained his PhD degree in Medical Sciences from the University of Liège. His research activity is focused on multimodal neuroimaging biomarkers of neurodegenerative disorders and cognitive decline (AD, FTD, and PD) and disorders of consciousness. He has extensive experience in analysis and the correlation of clinical, neuropsychological, structural (MRI), and advanced functional neuroimaging (e.g., fMRI, DTI, PET) data in patients with mental disorders (psychiatric, neurological, etc.) and preclinical models of diseases. He has been awarded the “Magna cum Laude” Award at Italian Congress of Radiology SIRM 2010, the “Filippo Adipietro” Award II Edition in
2009, and the “Prof, Mario Arturo La Fauci” Award for the best scientific poster at the Italian Society of Immunohistochemistry in 2007.
Dr. Simona Celi is the director of the Bioiengineering Unit at Fondazioen Toscana G. Monasterio. She co-founded the BioCardioLab in 2008 and she is the group leader of this research lab. She received her PhD degree from the University of Pisa. Her main research topics are the correlation between in vivo and ex vivo data, the development of an in silico approach through advanced image processing, experimental activities, and finite element simulation with uncertainties quantification and sensitivities analysis.
