Dr. M. Wassen completed her training as a gynecologist at the Maastricht University Hospital and Atrium Medical Center Parkstad in 2012. She earned her MD (2004) and PhD from Universiteit Maastricht in 2014. She has been working as a gynecologist since January 2013 at Zuyderland MC. Her areas of interest include benign gynecology, vulvar pathology, and minimally invasive surgery.
Dr. Niels Cremers is the head of research at Triticum Exploitatie B.V. This company manufactures Medical Devices, including wound care products based on medical-grade honey. He earned his master’s degree in biomedical sciences with majors in Human Pathobiology and Toxicology and a Ph.D. degree in medical sciences from the Radboud University in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. He collaborates with clinicians and researchers worldwide in (pre)clinical studies to prove the antimicrobial and pro-healing activities of honey in wound care and beyond. He has more than 15 years of experience in the field of tissue regeneration and has been recognized by Expertscape.com as a world expert (top 0.1%) in honey research and wound healing (top 1%). Moreover, he is a country-corresponding member of the Apitherapy Commission of Apimondia (the World Federation of Beekeeping Associations).
