Author Biographies

Mr.Raul Carrillo is a Ph.D student of the Ph.D program in advanced engineering materials of the University of Jaen, Spain. His dissertation, under the tutelage of Professor Francisco A. Corpas Iglesias, is a project that studies the valorization of slate stone mining waste as a new alternative material through geopolymerization technology, aiming to develop a sustainable binder for construction purposes. His research interests are sustainable construction materials from mining waste. Raul has already published, as main author, a study named " New geopolymers from industrial by-products: Olive biomass fly ash and chamotte as raw materials" in December 2020, in the Construction and Building Material Journal. http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.conbuildmat.2020.121924 Raul obtained his Bs.C in civil engineering in the University of Cordoba, Spain in 2008. He continued his university studies with an Ms.C in land transportation engineering (2016), and an Ms.C in materials engineering and sustainable construction (2022), both university titles from the University of Jaen, Spain. Raul Carrillo works as Program Manager at Hyperloop Transportation Technologies and as Chief Research Officer at Ecocastulum. He has a solid international working experience in the railway field in projects in Europe and the Middle East.
Elena Picazo is in her second year of the Ph.D. program in advanced engineering materials at the University of Jaen, Spain, under the tutelage of Professor Francisco A. Corpas Iglesias. Her research interests are related to the development of geopolymers from olive biomass ashes. Elena obtained her Bs.C in Chemical Industrial Engineering at the University of Jaen, Spain (2019). She also completed an Ms.C in advanced engineering materials at the same University in 2020. Currently, she combines her activity at the university with her activity in private companies, directing the R&D department of a company in the biomass sector.
Griselda Perea is in her fourth year of a Bs.C in Chemical Industrial Engineering at the University of Jaen, Spain. She is interested in reusing cutting sludges for construction material development in her thesis dissertation.
Professor Dr. Francisco Antonio Corpas-Iglesias is a Professor of Materials Engineering at the University of Jaen, Spain. He obtained his Ph.D in Materials Engineering from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Spain in 1999. Since 2004, he has been a Professor of Materials Science at the Higher Polytechnic University of Jaen. He was appointed as a research member of TEP 169 BIOSAHE from 2002 to 2004. His research work has resulted in a total of 78 scientific publications in journals indexed in WoS (25 publications in first quartile), 51 papers presented at national and international congresses, 26 papers presented at conferences, seminars and courses, 8 book chapters, and 50 research contracts and projects as principal investigator. Francisco has participated as a co-author in several research papers related to geopolymers using different raw materials from mining and industry.
