2020. His main research directions include biochemical engineering,
fermentation engineering, microbiomics, and microbial metabolomics.
Jingliang Xu received his Ph.D degree in Microbiology in
2006 from Nanjing Agricultural University (Nanjing, China). He once worked at
the Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and
is now working in the College of Chemical Engineering and Energy, Zhengzhou
University. His research works are related to biorefinery with lignocellulosic
biomass. He is the principal investigator of more than 20 scientific research
projects. He has published over 100 publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals
and has been issued 22 Chinese patents, 1 USA patent, and 1 Australian patent.
He also published 2 monographs as chief editor.
His research fields include biorefinery with lignocellulosic biomass,
cellulase immobilization and hydrolysis reactor design, cellulose simultaneous
saccharification and fermentation (SSF) technology; cellulase high-producing
microorganism screening and preparation; long-chain alcohol biosynthesis with
engineered Corynebacterium glutamicum; bioethanol production from biomass
syngas; bioethanol production from microalgae with industrial waste gas;
itaconic acid/succinic acid biosynthesis/production; rare sugar biocatalysis
and biotransformation.
Yafan Cai is a directly employed researcher at the Biology

of China (2023–2025) on the “bioaugmentation of mutually beneficial complex
bacteria and the mechanism analysis of ammonia inhibition relief based on ‘ammonia
inhibition steady state’”, Maotai-flavor liquor wastewater treatment process
development project (2023–2025), Beijing Technology and Business University Key
Laboratory Open Project about Liquor wastewater treatment process development
project based on simultaneous denitrification (January 2023–December 2023). His
research directions include organic waste resource utilization (bio-fermented
protein feed direction), organic waste energy utilization (bio-natural gas
engineering direction), and organic waste fertilization (bio-organic
fertilizer direction).
