Author Biographies

Muthaiah Shellaiah was born in India, received a Ph.D. in January 2013, and completed postdoctoral studies (5 months) under the supervision of Prof. Hong-Cheu Lin at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, National Chiao Tung University, Taiwan (ROC). From Sep 2014 to July 2023 (8 years and 11 months), he worked as a postdoctoral researcher on multiple projects in Prof. Kien Wen Sun’s laboratory at the Department of Applied Chemistry, National Yang-Ming Chiao Tung University, Taiwan (ROC). Currently, he works as an Assistant Professor (Research) at the Department of Research and Analytics, SIMATS, Saveetha University, Chennai, India. He published more than 50 SCI research/review papers, of which 37 papers lie under Q1 journals. He also serves as a member of the topical advisory panel and currently acts as a co-guest editor in a special issue of the Chemosensors journal. Recently, He has been recognized as “Outstanding Reviewer (2023)” in The New Journal of Chemistry (an RSC publishing journal). Presently, his research is focused on nanomaterials, chemosensors, supramolecular complexes, and organic/inorganic hybrid solar cells.
Kien Wen Sun was born in Taipei, Taiwan. He holds a Ph.D. from the Department of Electrical Engineering at Princeton University in New Jersey, United States. From 1995 to 2000, he occupied the faculty of Electronic Engineering at Feng Chia University, Taiwan. From 2002 to 2005, he was a professor in the Department of Physics at National Dong Hwa University, Hualien, Taiwan. Since 2005, he has been a professor in the Department of Applied Chemistry at the National Chiao Tung University, Hsinchu, Taiwan. During his sabbatical in 2012, he was a visiting professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Waterloo, Canada. Dr. Sun was appointed as the Department Chair of Applied Chemistry at NCTU from 2012 to 2014. He is also currently a Joint Appointment Professor at the Department of Electronics Engineering and the Director of the Center of Nano Science and Technology at National Chiao Tung University. He has published more than 100 SCI journal research/review papers in the above research fields. He has served as a reviewer and editorial board member for numerous international journals. He has been engaged as a guest editor for many special issues in the Chemosensors journal. His research interests include femtosecond laser and laser spectroscopy in III–V compound semiconductors, spintronics, nanoimprint, nanolithography, nanoelectronics, solar cells, biochips, chemosensors, and biosensing technology.
Natesan Thirumalaivasan earned his Master of Science and Master of Philosophy in chemistry from Madurai Kamaraj University in 2014, and a Doctor of Philosophy (2015-2019). He completed two years of postdoctoral research (2019-2021) in the Department of Applied Chemistry, National Chiao Tung University, Hsinchu, Taiwan. Throughout his research, he has published 45 research articles. His strong research experience includes chemosensor, multi-step organic compound synthesis, nanomaterial preparation, cell biology, antitumor testing in mice, live imaging of zebrafish, protein structure analysis using raman spectroscopic techniques, and bioimaging studies.
Dr. Mayank Bhushan has obtained a B.Tech. degree in Biotechnology in 2010 from SRM University, Chennai, India, and subsequent M.Tech. and Ph.D. degrees in Nanoscience and Technology from Pondicherry University, Puducherry, India. He has worked as an Assistant Professor (ad hoc) at the Department of Nanotechnology, North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong, India, for 7.5 years. Here, he was involved in teaching different theory and laboratory courses to the students enrolled in the M.Tech. program of the department. He is also actively pursuing research in the fields of nanobiotechnology, energy, and environmental nanotechnology and has guided 22 M.Tech. students for their major projects. He also had funded projects from the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. Currently, he works as an Assistant Professor at Saveetha Dental College, SIMATS, Saveetha University, Chennai, India. He has authored several articles, book chapters, and one book (edited volume), all published by renowned international publishers. His current research interests include biomaterials, nanomedicine, biophotonics, sensors, and environmental nanotechnology.
Dr. A. Murugan has been working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry, North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST), Nirjuli-791109, Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh, India since 2016. Before joining NERIST, He served as an Assistant Professor at Kalasalingam University, Krishnankoil, Tamil Nadu. He earned his B.Sc degree from Rajapalayam Rajus’ College, Rajapalayam, and received his M.Sc and M.phil degrees from VHNSN college (affiliated with Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai), Virudhunagar, India. He earned his Doctorate from North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong, Meghalaya, India. He has more than 14 years of teaching and research experience and has published 30 research papers in international and national journals, 9 chapters in books, and 2 books.
