Prof. Richard Walsh began his training in neurology with a Research Fellowship in Movement Disorders and Dystonia with Prof. Michael Hutchinson at St. Vincent’s University Hospital. He went on to complete his specialty training in neurology in Dublin before moving to Toronto where he worked at Toronto Western Hospital for two years. While there he worked under Prof. Anthony Lang and Dr. Eleno Moro, completing Clinical Fellowships in Movement Disorders and Deep Brain Stimulation. Since 2012, Richard Walsh has run the Tallaght Movement Disorders Unit where he works with a Parkinson’s Disease Nurse Specialist and a Movement Disorders Fellow. Richard Walsh also co-directs the National Ataxia Clinic with his colleague Dr. Sinead Murphy. He is now interested in the Management of Advanced Parkinson’s disease; Surgical and pump therapies in Parkinson’s disease; Inherited Ataxia; Botulinum toxin treatment of dystonia; Functional movement disorders and Tremor disorders.
