Prof. Wei Ji received his B.S. degree from the Department of Engineering Physics, Tsinghua University, in 1999 and his Ph.D. degree from the Department of Nuclear Engineering and Radiological Sciences at the University of Michigan in 2007. In 2008, Prof. Wei Ji joined Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical, Aerospace, and Nuclear Engineering. He was promoted to Associate Professor with Tenure in 2015 and Full Professor in 2022. In 2023, he was named William H. Hernstadt '57 Faculty Fellow in Nuclear Engineering. Since joining RPI, Prof. Wei Ji has published over 160 peer-reviewed scientific papers, focusing on the development of innovative computation techniques to address emerging challenges in areas of nuclear energy, medical physics, nuclear safety/security, and space exploration. He and his team have received numerous awards from the Department of Energy and the American Nuclear Society for their outstanding research achievements. His research is funded by the Department of Energy (DOE), the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the National Institute of Health (NIH), the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), the National Science Foundation (NSF), and industry.
