Efthalia Moustakli is a Ph.D. candidate in the Laboratory of Medical Genetics in Clinical Practice at the Medical School of the University of Ioannina. In 2020, she received her M.Sc. from the Department of Biological Applications and Technologies. Her research interests include spermatozoa, mitochondria, and telomeres. She has so far received two awards throughout her academic career: Firstly, in June 2023, her research team was awarded first prize at the 13th Panhellenic Conference of the Hellenic Andrology Society for the project entitled "The effects of sildenafil on the enzymes involved in testicular testosterone synthesis". Finally, in September 2023, she took a position as a chairwoman at the session of "Reproductive Genetics-Clinical" at the International Federation of Fertility Societies (IFFS).
Dr. Konstantinos Dafopoulos is a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Faculty of Medicine, School of Health Sciences, University of Thessaly, Larissa; and Head of the IVF Unit in the University Hospital of Larissa. Prof. Dafopoulos studied Medicine at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. His doctorate thesis was on ovarian control of gonadotrophin secretion, and his specialist training took place in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical School of the Democritus University of Thrace, Greece. He trained in Reproductive Medicine and Endoscopic Surgery in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, University Schleswig-Holstein, Campus Lübeck, Germany. He is a member of the administrative boards of the Hellenic Society of Gynecologic Endocrinology and the Hellenic Society of Fertility Preservation. His main research interests include ovarian and pituitary function, polycystic ovary syndrome, the role of ghrelin and adipokines in reproductive function, and ovarian stimulation for IVF.
Ioannis Georgiou is a Professor at the Laboratory of Medical Genetics, Faculty of Medicine, School of Health Sciences, University of Ioannina, Greece. He obtained his Ph.D. from the Medical School of the University of Ioannina in 1989 and held a position as Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Institute of Molecular Biology, University of Heraklion, Crete between 1989 and 1990. He also holds memberships in other professional societies, including the European Society of Human Genetics, the European Society of Human Reproduction, the Hellenic Association of Medical Geneticists, etc. His scientific research interests include inherited and acquired genetic disorders, mutagenesis in reproduction, mosaicism of the pre-embryo and the placenta, and epigenetics of pre-embryo development and during the gamete maturation process.
