Dr. Yong-Bi Fu obtained his Ph.D. in plant population genetics at the University of Toronto from 1990 to 1994 and undertook postdoctoral research at the University of British Columbia from 1994 to 1998. Since 1998, he has worked as a research scientist at the Plant Gene Resources of Canada, Saskatoon Research and Development Centre, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. Dr. Fu has broad academic interest in evolutionary biology but more specifically in the evolutionary conservation of plant genetic resources. His research includes plant population and conservation genetics, crop genetic diversity and domestication, the molecular characterization and conservation of plant germplasms, the in situ conservation and utilization of native plants, and molecular markers and DNA sequence analysis.
