Tatyana Zykova (Vatolina) graduated from the Faculty of Natural Sciences of Novosibirsk State University with a degree in biology in 2003. Since 2003 she has been working in the laboratory of molecular cytogenetics. She defended her Ph.D. thesis on the topic "Characterization of DNA and protein composition of interband regions of chromosomes in Drosophila melanogaster". She currently works as a leading researcher in the laboratory of molecular cytogenetics at the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Biology of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Tatyana Zykova's scientific activity is devoted to the complex study of the molecular genetic organization of the structures of polytene chromosomes in D. melanogaster, as well as the molecular genetic description of protein complexes associated with the bands, interbands eu- and heterochomatin of polytene chromosomes in Drosophila.
