Farhan Ahmad is a PhD candidate at Western Sydney University working on cementitious composites.  He did his masters in structural engineering with research focused on recycled electronic plastic aggregate concrete integrated with nanomaterial. His area of expertise includes recycling waste material, green cement, magnesium oxychloride cement, rubber aggregates, plastic aggregate concrete, self-healing concrete, and carbon-based nanomaterials. He has published various research articles and conferences in international journals. Currently, he is working on elevated temperature performance of fibre-reinforced magnesium oxychloride cement-based composites.
Dr. Sanket Rawat is a postdoctoral fellow at the School of Engineering, Design and Built Environment, Western Sydney University on an ARC Discovery Project investigating the fire performance of magnesia-based fibre-reinforced cementitious composites. He received his Master’s degree in Structural Engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani, and his PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of New South Wales (UNSW). He has been researching the impact of elevated temperatures on both calcium- and magnesia-based binder materials. In particular, his main focus has been on the effective utilization of industrial by-products in infrastructural sectors requiring high fire resistance.
Prof. Dr. Y.X. Zhang joined Western Sydney University (WSU) in 2019 after working at UNSW for 15 years. She is now the Deputy Chair of the Academic Senate of WSU, Co-Director of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, and Discipline Leader (Civil & Environmental Engineering). She was awarded a PhD in Structural Engineering from the University of Hong Kong in 2001. Prof. Zhang’s research interest has been in advanced composite materials and novel applications of advanced materials in civil and mechanical/aeronautical structures with a focus on construction sustainability and infrastructure resilience. She published over 390 peer-reviewed scholarly research papers including more than 190 papers in top international journals in her research areas. She was appointed as the Australian Research Council College of Expert member in 2021. She is a Fellow of Engineering Australia and a committee member for the Civil and Structural College, Sydney Branch.
