Quinten Dejaegere is a Ph.D. student at Ghent University. His research focuses on pre-chambers to allow the use of methanol as a single fuel in large-bore internal combustion engines. Previously, he worked on the Mobile Methanol Utilisation or MMU project to introduce methanol as an e-fuel in heavy-duty logistics. Quinten Dejaegere earned a Master’s degree in Engineering Sciences—Mechanical Energy Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Ghent University in 2021 and served as a Mechanical Design Engineer at Avercon, Eeklo (2021–2022).
Magnus Svensson is currently a Ph.D. student in the Department of Energy Sciences, Lund University, specializing in combustion engines within the EU Horizon 2020 project, FASTWATER. Magnus Svensson’s research focuses on the development of methanol as a fuel for compression-ignition engines, particularly investigating low-load cases. Magnus Svensson earned a Master’s degree in Engineering Sciences—Engineering Physics in 2020 from Lund University.
Sebastian Verhelst graduated from Ghent University (Belgium) with a Master's in Electromechanical Engineering in 1999. Then, he started as a research and teaching assistant, working on his Ph.D. and assisting with courses and labs. In 2005, he obtained his Ph.D. degree in Electromechanical Engineering on the topic of hydrogen engines. In October 2011, he obtained a permanent, full-time position as an Associate Professor of Internal Combustion Engines at UGent, working on renewable fuels for engines (mainly hydrogen and methanol), in-cylinder heat transfer, and medium-speed engines. In September 2017, he started working at Lund University (Sweden) as a Senior Lecturer. In 2018, he was promoted to Reader at Lund, and in 2021 to full professor at Ghent.
