Dr. Kalliopi Dodou has a BSc in Pharmacy (1999), a PhD in Medicinal Chemistry (2004), and a Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (FHEA). She was an academic at the University of Sunderland between 2004 and 2023, initially as a Lecturer in Pharmaceutics, and gradually progressed to Senior Lecturer (2008) and Reader/Associate Professor (2016) while establishing her research group on the formulation of pharmaceutical and cosmetic products. In 2015, she designed the BSc course on Cosmetic Science and launched it in 2016. She then designed the MSc in Cosmetic Science, which started in 2020. She was the Programme Leader for both courses. Since January 2024, she has been at the University of Teesside as Head of Pharmaceutics, where she is in the leadership team designing a Pharmacy course for accreditation by the GPhC. She is a member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (MRPharmS), registered with GPharmC, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC). She is an elected Member of the Council of the Society of Cosmetic Scientists (SCS) in the UK and a member of the Education Committee and the Scientific Programme Committee of the SCS. Besides her teaching, she leads research on the design and quality control of skin products and cosmetic formulations, e.g., hydrogels, the stabilisation of drugs/actives via amorphous solid dispersions, quality control testing, and sensory testing techniques for the claim substantiation of cosmetic products.
