Dr. Luis Manuel Navas-Gracia is a Full Professor in the Department of Agricultural and Forestry Engineering at the University of Valladolid (Spain) and leader of the research group GIR-TADRUS. His research interests include biosystems and bioprocess engineering, renewable energy, energy efficiency, process automation, precision farming, greenhouse technology, waste reutilization, environment, sustainability and recycling in agricultural processes, and urban farming. He has directed 15 Ph.D. theses, and his doctoral candidates are currently working at Spanish or Brazilian universities as teachers and researchers, technology-based companies, governments and advisory companies. He is a regular professor in three Doctoral Programs at the University of Valladolid, Polytechnic University of Madrid (Spain) and Federal University of Vicosa (Brazil). He has assessed more than 25 Ph.D. theses in Spain, Portugal and Brazil. He is the coordinator of the Doctoral Program of Science and Engineering for Food Technology and Biosystems of the University of Valladolid and an academic member of the ACREDITA national program on which the Spanish Doctoral Programs are evaluated. Prof. Navas has four research periods recognized by the Spanish Research Board. In the last six years, he has authored 26 JCR scientific papers, has been head of ten national and international projects, and has been an inventor in 8 patents.
