Author Biographies

Mohammad Masfiqul Alam Bhuiyan received his MSc in construction engineering and management from the University of Alberta in 2022 and is now pursuing a PhD in the same field. He worked as a military engineer and a construction engineer in the Bangladesh Army (2000–2023). He voluntarily retired in 2023 as a Lieutenant Colonel to dedicate himself to academia and the construction industry. In 2020, he moved to the University of Alberta and started his academic career. His research topics mainly include sustainable construction, sustainable development, construction management, multicriteria decision analysis, green building, circular economy, sustainable smart cities, etc.
Dr. Ahmed Hammad joined the University of Alberta in 2018 as an associate professor in construction engineering and management after 2 years at the University of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates (UAE). Prior to joining academia, he spent 25 years in the construction industry as a project planning and control manager. His responsibilities included project scope management using WBS and work packages, planning and scheduling, cost estimation and control, management of change, and risk management. He has experience working on the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) phases of several mega multibillion-dollar infrastructure, commercial, oil sands, offshore conventional oil, and liquid natural gas (LNG) projects. These projects were planned and executed in Canada, the USA, South Korea, the UAE, Australia, and Egypt. He has published several journal and conference papers, provided training in project management, and developed integrated project planning and control systems for three global EPC firms.
