Alyssa M Walker, PharmD, BCPS, BCDIP, is an infectious disease pharmacist with over 10 years of clinical experience, during which she pioneered a multisystem antimicrobial stewardship program. She joined bioMérieux in 2023 and is currently working as a medical advisor. She obtained her PharmD from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and went on to complete a PGY1 pharmacy practice residency and PGY2 infectious diseases residency. She is board-certified in both clinical pharmacy practice and infectious diseases. Her current areas of focus are antimicrobial stewardship, metagenomic sequencing, and pneumonia, which are driven by a passion for improving patient outcomes through the responsible application of infectious disease diagnostics.
Tristan T Timbrook is an antimicrobial stewardship pharmacist and outcomes researcher with 15+ years of experience and over 50 peer-reviewed publications, other articles, and book chapters. He joined BioMérieux in 2020 as a Medical Scientist. From 2021 to the present, he has worked as Director of Health Economics Outcomes Research, Global Medical Affairs. He is skilled in infectious diseases, molecular microbiology, data management, multivariable modeling, infectious diseases and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) surveillance, and clinical epidemiology. His research focuses on comparative effectiveness and safety research of antibiotics and medical devices, antimicrobial stewardship initiatives, big data, real-world evidence (RWE), evidence synthesis (systematic reviews and meta-analyses), and driving conceptual understanding of the complex relationship between microbiology diagnostics and clinical outcomes.
Dr. Benjamin Hommel is a Senior Global Medical Scientist at bioMérieux, specializing in molecular products and multiplex PCR studies on respiratory diseases. With a background in laboratory medicine and molecular mycology, his expertise encompasses protein biochemistry, medical mycology, laboratory medicine, and molecular biology. He is dedicated to leveraging his expertise to improve public health outcomes and combat infectious diseases.
Dr. Andrea M Prinzi, Ph.D., MPH, SM (ASCP) currently works as a Field Medical Director at bioMérieux. She is a clinical microbiologist by training and spent over 12 years working at Children’s Hospital Colorado as a medical laboratory scientist. She has a Master's degree in public health with a focus in epidemiology from the Colorado School of Public Health and a Ph.D. in clinical and translational science from the University of Colorado. Over the last several years, her clinical research has focused on diagnostic stewardship and clinical outcomes for respiratory diagnostics in mechanically ventilated patients. Currently, her areas of focus include diagnostic stewardship, antimicrobial resistance, pneumonia, and outcomes research for in vitro diagnostics. She is an active science communicator for the American Society of Microbiology.
