Author Biographies

Hisham Wazeer holds a Master’s degree in Applied Plant Biotechnology from the Lebanese University. He received a Master’s degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics from the University of Pavia in 2022. He is currently a PhD student in Genetics, Molecular and Cellular Biology at the University of Pavia. From 2019 to 2020, he served as a Biology and Chemistry Teacher at the Lebanese Educational Tutoring School “LES” (Lebanon). He worked as a Visiting Researcher at the Seed Molecular Physiology Lab (Italy) in 2022.
Shraddha Shridhar Gaonkar graduated from Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal, India. She received a Master’s degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics from the University of Pavia. She is currently a PhD student in Genetics, Molecular and Cellular Biology at the University of Pavia. From 2018 to 2019, she was a project trainee in the Project “Alteration in phospho-proteome during aging and using fruitfly as model organism” at the CSIR—Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology, India.
Dr. Enrico Doria is a plant biologist, a researcher at the University of Pavia, and co-founder of bioRESTART, an academic spin-off. He completed his Ph.D. studies in Plant Biochemistry and Physiology at the University of Pavia in 2007. From 2007 to 2014, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Biology and Biotechnology “Lazzaro Spallanzani”, University of Pavia. His research interests are focused on the study of plant physiology, plant biochemistry, phycology, and secondary metabolites.
Dr. Andrea Pagano is currently a Research Fellow at the Department of Biology and Biotechnology 'L. Spallanzani' of the University of Pavia. He received his Bachelor’s Degree with honors in Biological Science at the University of Pavia (Italy) in 2013 and his Master’s Degree with honors in Molecular Biology and Genetics at the University of Pavia (Italy) in 2015. He obtained his PhD in Biomolecular Sciences and Biotechnology from Istituto Universitario Di Studi Superiori Di Pavia in 2019. His interests include seed quality, seed vigor, seed germination, seed priming, pre-germinative metabolism and DNA damage response.
Dr. Alma Balestrazzi is an Associate Professor and Researcher in Plant Physiology at the Department of Biology and Biotechnology ‘L. Spallanzani’, University of Pavia, Italy. She completed her Ph.D. studies in Genetics and Molecular Biology at the University of Pavia. She holds a Degree with honors in Biology from the University of Pavia. She is a member of the Italian Society of Horticulture and the Italian Society of Plant Biology-SIBV.
Dr. Anca Macovei is currently an Assistant Professor of Plant Physiology at the Department of Biology and Biotechnology ‘L. Spallanzani’, University of Pavia, Italy. She received a Master’s degree in Plant Genetic Engineering from Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca (Romania) in 2005. She completed her Ph.D. studies in Genetics and Molecular Biology at the University of Pavia in 2011. From 2013 to 2015, she was a postdoctoral fellow at the Genetic Transformation Laboratory, International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), USA.
