Mohieddine Jelali received a Dr.-Ing. (Ph.D.) in Mechanical Engineering/Control Systems from the University of Duisburg in 1997 and a Venia Legendi (Post Doc/Habilitation) in Process Automation from the University of Duisburg-Essen. He is a currently a Professor at Technische Hochschule Köln (TH Köln), Germany. He is also the head of the Cologne Lab for Artificial Intelligence and Smart Automation (CAISA) and the director of the Institute of Product Development and Engineering Design at TH Köln. His research interests include advanced control of industrial processes and mechatronic systems, intelligent sensor systems, and artificial intelligence/machine learning. He has considerable experience in the iron and steel industry, control applications in medical engineering, radar sensor systems, and smart farming. He also founded and established a company, ASINCO GmbH, Duisburg, Germany, which is a leading developer of industrial radar and automation technology, where he acted as the Managing Director and the Chief Executive Officer until December 2021. He has been involved in many nationally and EU-funded projects, as well as many projects supported by industries.
