Dr. Giuseppe Guido Maria Scarlata received his master’s degree in medical biotechnology from the University of Milan-Bicocca in 2018 and subsequently qualified as a Biologist at the University of Messina. He obtained a II Level Master in Pharmaceutical Management, and subsequently the Specialization Diploma in Microbiology and Virology at the Magna Graecia University of Catanzaro, for which he carries out the tutoring service for students belonging to the School of Medicine and Surgery for teaching Microbiology and Clinical Microbiology (MED/07). He is currently enrolled in the Ph.D. course in Clinical and Experimental Biomedical Sciences at the Magna Graecia University of Catanzaro and is also a member of the Ludovico Abenavoli’s Lab. His skills and expertise mainly include cell culture, PCR, gel electrophoresis, immunofluorescence, DNA extraction, DNA amplification, agarose gel electrophoresis, RNA extraction, bacterial cell culture, and DNA isolation.
Dr. Ilaria Lenci is a Consultant at the Department of Experimental Medicine and Surgery, University of Rome "Tor Vergata". She graduated from the same university, and she obtained her MD in Medicine and Surgery in 2003, her Postgraduate MD at the Gastroenterology and Hepatology School in 2007, and her Ph.D. in Methodologies in Preventive Medicine and Therapy in 2010. Then, she took time out for training in Gastroenterology and Liver Transplantation (2000–2003), training on management of patients affected by chronic hepatitis B and C, cirrhosis, and end-stage liver disease including patients listed for liver transplantation (2000–2003), as a Clinical Fellow at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, UK (2007–2008). In addition, she is a member of the Italian Society of Gastroenterology (SIGE), the Italian Association for the Study of the Liver (AISF), the European Association Study Liver (EASL), and the European Society of Organ Transplantation (ESOT).
Prof. Leonardo Baiocchi is an Associate Professor in Gastroenterology at the University of Rome "Tor Vergata". He graduated from the University of Rome “La Sapienza” with an MD in 1991, where he completed Specialist training in 1996. During that time, he served as a Research Fellow at Harvard University, Boston (USA) in 1992 and at the University of Birmingham, UK in 1996. From 1997 to 1999, he worked as an Assistant Professor at the Texas A & M University, Temple, TX (USA). Then, he obtained his Ph.D. in Public health and therapy at the University of Rome “Tor Vergata” in 2000. His research interests are the physio-pathology of bile secretion, clinical issues in liver transplantation, and the treatment of hepatitis C.
Prof. Francesco Luzza is a Full Professor of SSD MED/12 Gastroenterology, the Director at the Department of Science of Health, and a member of the Academic Senate, University of Catanzaro “Magna Graecia” (UMG). He obtained his Degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Bologna in 1980, with 110/110 cum laude. Then, he completed a Specialization in Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy at the University of Bologna in 1984. Subsequently, he started his career as a Researcher (Biochemistry) at the University of Reggio Calabria (URC) (1988–1991), an Assistant and Help, UOC of Gastroenterology, A.O. “Mater Domini”, UMG (1993–2003), and a Full Professor, SSD MED/12 Gastroenterology, UMG (2013).
