Author Biographies

Shiva Maleki Varnosfaderani is a dedicated scholar who attained her Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Wayne State University in 2023. Her doctoral research focused on the development of machine learning algorithms leveraging EEG brain data to construct a precise epileptic prediction system. Her academic journey commenced at Isfahan University of Technology in 2012, where she earned her B.Sc. degree in electrical engineering. Continuing her pursuit of excellence, she obtained her M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from the same esteemed institution. Dr. Varnosfaderani's primary research interests lie at the intersection of signal and image processing, data analysis, and machine learning algorithms, particularly within healthcare systems and biomedical integrated circuits.
Mohamad Forouzanfar received a PhD degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Ottawa, Ottawa, ON, Canada, in 2014. From 2014 to 2017, he held postdoctoral positions in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Ottawa, School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Harvard University, and the Department of Electrical Engineering at Stanford University. From 2017 to 2020, he worked as a Research Scientist in the Center for Health Sciences at SRI International, Menlo Park, CA, USA. He is currently an Associate Professor at École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS), Université du Québec, Montreal, QC, Canada. He has over 15 years of experience in developing intelligent wearable sensing and imaging systems for physiological monitoring and health management. As part of his commitment to knowledge and technology translation, he has also consulted several industrial companies and government sectors in the design of smart wearable medical devices. His area of expertise is in applied signal processing, machine learning, and instrumentation for biomedical applications. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE and an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement.
