Author Biographies

Dr. Laura Mirra (MSc, PhD) is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Water Economics at Polytechnic University of Bari (PoliBa, Italy), Department of Civil, Environmental, Building Engineering and Chemistry. She holds two MSc degrees, in Agricultural Sciences (UniNA, Italy) and Agricultural Economics and Policy (Centre of Advanced Training in Economics and Rural Development Policy, Italy). Her research interests concern agricultural and water economics, with a special focus on economic instruments for water governance, including water pricing, water accounting, and water value assessment. She manages quantitative methods and models based on mathematical programming at the farm level. During her experience, she worked in collaboration with the Agricultural Economics research group of the University of Bari “Aldo Moro” (Italy) and at the University of Cordoba (Spain), Water, Environmental and Agricultural Resources Economics Group (WEARE).
Dr. Simone Russo is a Post Doctoral Research Fellow at the Department of Soil, Plant and Food Sciences (DISSPA), University of Bari “Aldo Moro”. He is involved in a project that aims to investigate the economic performances of agroecological farming systems. His research interests center around agricultural economics, specifically in evaluating the technical efficiency of farms and the impact of risk and risk management tools on efficiency. Dr. Simone was a Ph.D. student at the Department of Agricultural Sciences, Food, Natural Resources, and Engineering (DAFNE), University of Foggia, from November 2018 to February 2023.
Dr. Massimiliano Borrello is a researcher at the Department of Agricultural Sciences (UNA - Italy), where he is a professor of Agricultural Economics. He has an MSc degree in Agricultural Economics and Policy (Centre of Advanced Training, Italy) and a PhD in the Improvement and Management of Agricultural Resources and Forests (UNA, Italy). He is also a professor of Circular Economy in the MSc in Agricultural Economics and Policy (Centre of Advanced Training, Italy) and has been invited to lecture on Regenerative Industrial Design (doctoral programs of the Corvinus University, Hungary). His scientific interests include sustainability transitions in the agri-food sector and circular economy innovations. He has collaborated on several research projects and was the PI of a project concerning consumers’ acceptance of fungus-resistant grapes, which was funded by the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV).
